Marithe Francois Girbaud: An Innovative And Experimental Clothing Brand
A French clothing company that was founded back in 1965, Marithe Francois Girbaud is the brainchild of a married couple, Marithé Bachellerie and François Girbaud, who both had a keen eye for fashion and detail. From the time that they started selling pieces in the market in 1969, they were able to gain a wide customer base, reaching to the many countries across the globe and in the US, primarily in the suburbs and other urban communities of Boston, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. They specialize in casual clothing, particularly jeans. Their flagship stores are situated in Beverly Hills and in Paris.
Although the company faced a controversy in 2005, they were able to rise above it and continue to make stylish creations that made the brand even more popular up to this day. Their pieces show an in influence of Japanese design, reveling in design elements of reversibility, cylinders and mutation. Fashion experts consider these jeans to be one of the first jeans sold in the mainstream market that contributed to the "baggy" urban look because of the wide thighs and crotch space. One of their newer creations would be the three-strap para shuttle jeans. It has a pair of Velcro straps on the knee and a Velcro strap on the ankle.
